Many counsellors have considered working with children and young people, but decide not to explore this out of fear for the work. This session explores what work with young people can be like, offers guidance on how to work with young people and their parents and addresses anxieties and misconceptions about the work.

Our lives are lived through screens more and more and the impact of this is still being understood. This session takes findings from contemporary research and applies them to common presenting issues in the therapy room, offering practical ideas on how to address them.

Neurodiversity is becoming a more widely discussed topic in the media. This session, taking lived experiences and mixing them with research and clinical understandings, explores this diverse topic and gives counsellors the opportunity to consider how to adopt neurodivergent-friendly practices.

Some children in school seem to have a harder time of everything than others. This session focuses on what we can learn from the children who are struggling, what challenges are facing the system that they exist in and how we, as counsellors, can help them both.

The world can feel distressing for LGBTQ+ people in a way that heteronormative people cannot understand. This session, created through combining research, writings and lived experiences, aims to create awareness and appreciation for our LGBTQ+ clients to demonstrate that we are safe and welcoming.

More and more we hear of people self-diagnosing based of content they have accessed on social media. This session considers what these experiences are actually saying, what we can take from them and how we can use it in our practice.
